Mary Bomela

CEO of Mineworkers Investment Company (MIC), Advocate for Inclusive Growth & Keynote Speaker

Meet Mary Bomela

Mary Bomela is a world-class executive who previously held the role of CEO for Mineworker’s Investment Company (MIC). With over ten years of experience as CEO and sixteen years in senior management roles, Mary has proven herself to be a commercial executive with a reputation of unlocking shareholder value through not only implementing focused and driven strategies, but also creating strong operational teams to implement these turnaround initiatives.

Mary has accumulated an impressive career that continues to develop in stature and influence. Her current portfolio includes four non-executive directorships within businesses across industry sectors such as media, telecoms, mining and industrial. She is an executive with a deep-seated strategic and operational skillset. She has an extensive success record of building strong businesses, underpinned by professional teams, who she has trained and mentored personally. Her ability to immerse herself as a commercial leader and in a capacity as a non-executive director and effect large-scale business turnarounds in highly complex corporate cultures has proven to be her greatest strength and something Mary enjoys the most.

Her early career journey in finance across various industry sectors such as logistics and mining has given her excellent insight into managing complex operational structures and the importance of building strong shareholder confidence. It is not surprising that leading and mentoring highly specialist teams of individuals is close to Mary’s heart as she believes that building a robust business architecture is vital for the implementation of high-level driven strategies. Mary leads from the front and involves herself with issues from legal and governance to human resources and business development, all whilst maintaining a strong executive posture. Mary is passionate about education and is intricately involved in the business’ CSI work done at various schools, including personal support to students at JB Marks Education Trust.
