Meet Mncane Mthunzi
Mncane Mthunzi is an experienced businessman, business turnaround specialist, restructuring practitioner and researcher. Mncane is currently the owner-operator of Gravaton, a hygiene equipment refurbishment business. He is also a 100% owner of Audacity Financial Services, an insurance brokerage business. He has recently concluded a consultation on strategic assignment on eCommerce mergers and acquisition to a German based entity, this client has concluded the acquisition of a last mile courier company in partnership with Amazon. Mncane was also a Strategy Lead for the Red Tape Reduction Project within the RSA Presidency. He was the Chief Operations Officer at Edcon Group with responsibilities that included real estate, supply chain, global sourcing, HR and group shared services. He was the Supplier Development Executive at Massmart Group for over three years before joining the Builders Board and Exco as a Director where he was responsible for Superstore strategy; store roll-outs and store operations. He is the former CEO of the Consumer Goods Council of South Africa (CGCSA).
Mncane also spent his career at Microsoft as Strategy Consultant and later as Sales Executive. He serviced clients in the economic cluster of government, which included Treasury, Transnet, South African Receiver of Revenue (SARS), Denel, DTI and State IT Agency (SITA). Mncane started his career at Accenture, where he worked in many industries both locally and internationally handling large-scale systems integrations and business solutions for several clients. Some of the clients included Transnet, Caterpillar, Telkom, Cell-C and the Department of Welfare.
Through his PhD thesis, Mncane has engaged with over 30 executives from Standard Bank, Sasol and Momentum-Metropolitan who participated in case studies of their respective companies for his research. This is where he developed trustworthy relationships with his research participants who included Board Chairpersons, CEOs and senior executives. Mncane is also the past President of the Black Management Forum (BMF). Mncane has written extensively on leadership; business turnarounds and change management.

2022
Acquired 100% of Gravaton, a loss-making business in March 2022 and turned it to profitability within six months since acquisition through business restructuring, primarily creating a prudent cost structure; gaining market share and competitive sourcing of input materials.
Founder of Audacity Financial Services, an insurance brokerage business with an FSP licence. The business focuses on products such as funeral cover, with future plans to incorporate healthcare, life and personal loan products. This business is also profit-making.
