MEET Dr Gugulethu Xaba

Dr Gugulethu Xaba is a dynamic who has made significant contribution in the Education, Human Development, Political and trade union movement. As a community activist he served in various roles in politics, union leadership, community engagement and even career and information centres. He believes in the provision of intelligent but practical solutions to address complex problems. His area of interest and expertise include leadership development, personal coaching, youth development, thinking skills, facilitation, corporate governance and research. He is the present Chairperson of the Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital Board. He also a member of the Vuselela TVET College Council where he is also the chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee. In the past, he was a member of the Ekurhuleni East TVET College where he served for two terms as the Deputy Chairperson and The chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee.

He is currently working as Director of Student Governance and Leadership Development at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). His previous roles included being the Head of the Leadership centre and Student Development Practitioner at TUT; Senior Academic Administrator at UNISA, a lecturer in business studies at Tlhamoha Technical College and a Director of Training and Development at Taff Zalli Foundation. His academic qualifications include a Masters degree in Entrepreneurship from Tshwane University of Technology, a B-tech in Corporate Administration and National Diploma in Company Administration from Technikon Witwatersrand. He has also received advanced training in Corporate Governance and Ethical leadership from Wits University Graduate School of Business Administration and University of Pretoria. He is currently enrolled for a doctoral degree in organisational leadership focusing on the development of a framework for evaluating leadership development programs.​
