Meet Mduduzi Nkosi

Mduduzi Nkosi has a distinguished career as a Senior Actuarial Analyst, with over seven years of experience in the actuarial field. His career has seen him hold pivotal roles in reputable organizations, including Investec Bank, NBC Holdings, and the Road Accident Fund (RAF).
He has specialized expertise in Pension Funds and Damages:

• Pension Funds: In this capacity, Mduduzi is responsible for ensuring that the assets of a pension fund consistently match its liabilities while mitigating associated risks. He also projects the income an individual will need for a financially secure retirement, a crucial aspect of retirement planning
• Damages: Mduduzi applies his actuarial skills to assess the loss of earnings for individuals involved in accidents. His work involves calculating and projecting the long-term financial impact of motor vehicle accidents on victims.

Currently, he is an internal consultant within the claims risk team at Road Accident Fund (RAF). Among his most significant achievements is playing a key role in developing a five-year budget that considers various factors affecting the Fund’s present and future liabilities and assets. This project was approved by the RAF Board of Directors and has since been adopted by the Department of Transport as the official budget framework for the RAF for the next five years. Additionally, Mduduzi enjoys building risk models that assist companies in understanding and managing potential future risks.

Mduduzi is deeply passionate about giving back to his community and empowering the youth through knowledge sharing. He has been a public speaker for over 12 years, during which time he has shared his personal journey and the lessons he has learned from his academic and professional experiences. His engagements have taken him to various platforms, including schools, churches, and universities, where he inspires young people.

In the last 3 years, he has been invited by South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) to speak at one of the camps they have for matric learners. He has also been invited by EmpowaYouth to speak alongside education minister and celebrities to over 16 000 people sharing his life story from high school to where he is today as an entrepreneur and Profession.

• Mduduzi started a company called Ephes-VI, a consulting company with 3 Mining engineers and 2 Senior Actuarial Analysts as Directors.
• He has an accounting company with his wife called Kganya Ngwane E Montsho
• He owns shares in a marketing company called Siakhula

Mduduzi Nkosi hosted a “Dine with Kasi Professionals” event in September 2023, with 23 professionals from his township in attendance. He celebrated the achievements of the professionals and challenged them to identify issues that can be solved within the community. His currently in a process of opening an NPC that will be addressing the issues and providing solutions to what was discussed at the event.

He established a Professional mentorship programme for an NPC named Faculty of Best Advisory. In the process young graduates were helped to transition from university to places of employment.

Currently he mentors 10 young people within high school and university. 2 of his mentees recently secured employment in the Actuarial space to be Actuarial Analysts. He believes in lifting others as he rise. His story is still unfolding…
